Grace Kelly, precisely 5ft 6 ½ (168.9 cm) tall, navigated early career challenges in New York theater where producers repeatedly dismissed her as too tall for ingénue roles.
“Everybody said I was too tall. I've read parts in my stocking feet… because I was five feet six and a half,” she recounted, having auditioned for 40 plays including Gigi and Ring around the Moon.
Her statuesque 5ft 6 ½ frame perfectly suited her glamorous Hollywood image, shining in key roles in Rear Window, Dial M for Murder, Mogambo, The Country Girl, To Catch a Thief, and High Society.
This elegant height contributed to her poised persona as she became Princess of Monaco upon marrying Prince Rainier III in 1956.
